Kinsale (Irish: Cionn tSáile)
Kinsale is one of the most picturesque, historic and fashionable towns on the South West coast of Ireland. Famous for its safe harbour and gourmet restaurants and its annual "Gourmet Festival", Kinsale is a popular holiday resort for Irish and overseas tourists. A great place to visit if you want to enjoy yachting, sea angling, Dolphin & Whale watching trips and golf. The town also has several art galleries and a school of English. Kinsale is a compact and quaint town with an air of antiquity in its narrow streets.
Charles Fort (Irish: Dún Chathail) is a star fort located on the water's edge, at the southern end of the village of Summer Cove, on Kinsale harbour, County Cork, Ireland. James' Fort is located on the other side of the harbour. Charles Fort is built on the site of an earlier stronghold known as Ringcurran Castle, which featured prominently during the Siege of Kinsale in 1601.
